Julie Bignell

Home Manager

Hello, my name is Julie and I am the General Manager here at Carlton Court.

I have over 40 years’ experience as a nurse, 20 of which were in acute and high dependency settings within the NHS and 20 years in care homes with experience in both nursing and management positions.

Having previously been responsible for implementing the NHS Gold Standard Framework for End of Life Care to Beacon Status, my passion is to deliver respectful, compassionate and person centred care. This is my fifth registered manager position and I have been working with TLC since November 2019 and love working with such a dedicated team of professionals.

I love to socialise and show off our beautiful home so please feel free to visit us at any time for a cuppa and a chat!

Alina Pa'un

Hotel Services Manager

I joined TLC in February 2017 as I wholeheartedly believed that TLC’s values, Truth, Love and Compassion, matched mine.  Having a hospitality background really helped me integrate swiftly into the care sector, but it was only when I explored the well-being side of the business, that I fully understood the impact I can have on residents’ lives.

The Hotel Services Manager job role gives me the opportunity to do what I love the most - to develop teams and bring them together. Overseeing the housekeeping, laundry, maintenance, catering and wellbeing departments allows me to get a real insight into our residents’ needs. My passion is fuelled by the residents themselves - it is only through fulfilling their wishes that I have understood the difference we make in their lives.

I originally joined Cooperscroft Care Home as a Hotel Services Manager, where we achieved a status of ‘Outstanding’ for our responsiveness following our CQC inspection.  In May 2019 I took on the role of Head of Hotel Services, which gave me the opportunity to work with the hospitality teams in all eight TLC care homes. It was wonderful to get to know the teams and residents throughout the group but, it made me realise that my passion lies in belonging to one team.

I am now committed to the team members and residents of Carlton Court, and I am determined to add value to their lives.

Pradeep D'cruz

I have been in the healthcare profession for over 12 years and really feel accomplished every single day, to me there is no better place to be other than here at Carlton Court...

After graduating from the Durham University with a Theology and European Studies degree, I began my career in the care industry by working for a recruitment agency staffing local care homes in Cambridge. Here I developed a passion for the Care Industry and how I could positively use my skills to support homes.

I decided to plant my feet more firmly on the ground in Cambridge, to spend time with my family and became a Conference and Events organiser for the beautiful Hilton Doubletree Hotel. However, I realised I needed my work to reflect my personal interest in ‘giving back’. I was thrilled to be approached for the Hotel Service Manager role at Cambridge Manor, where I could use my skills to serve the elder community.

I am passionate about Cambridge Manor and when the opportunity arose to try a new challenge as the Community Development Manager I applied. I strongly believe that moving into a Care Home shouldn’t mean moving out of a community and we are so lucky to be in this wonderful, beautiful city filled with culture – and I am devoted to bringing Cambridge to Cambridge Manor.

I am hugely passionate about social issues and have ties to many volunteer organisations such as homeless shelters – especially in the Cambridge community. I enjoy living locally with my partner and all of the joys Cambridge brings me.

The concerns and needs of our residents and their family members are at the centre of everything we do.

It's important for our residents to feel like a valued member of society and facilitate higher levels of independence and a greater degree of dignity.  Freedom to embrace life's opportunities comes to residents naturally when they are surrounded by people who genuinely care about them in an enabling, thoughtfully designed environment.

Whilst with us, residents and families can rest assured that their loved one will receive warm person-centred care and support. We know that supporting our residents in this way, whilst enabling them to live connected with their families, helps in living well.
